Nigeria: Aero Contractors To Begin Flight Operations To Benin

Aero contractors have concluded plans to commence flight operations to Benin Airport, this September.

The airline has proposed the middle of the month as the preferred date for the resumption of its flight schedules in Edo State. However, a source from the State Government says there are still further consultations over plans.

Why this matters: It was reported that Edo was part of the 17 states that failed to attract any form of fresh investments in the first quarter of the year. However, Leonard Adagbon, an aviation expert, choosing to ignore the report, said the influx of investors is what Aero contractors is looking to leverage on.

According to Adagbon, Aero Contractors is currently fixated on exploring options in Benin due to the favorable business disposition Edo parades, as well as the influx of investors the state currently enjoys.

The number of passengers flying in and out of Benin is growing at a rate we never anticipated. The growing passenger traffic is also impacting on our hotels. More business people come to the state every week now for one thing or the other. You will be shocked to know that all the aircraft come into this town fully booked, so I understand why Aero Contractors wants to get their share of the cake."

Further Details: Adagbon also cited the introduction of facilities to support night landing at the Airport as another factor that influenced Aero Contractors’ decision to start flight operations in Edo.

Under the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration, Edo State is a huge construction site. Contractors, regulators and suppliers working on roads, electricity projects, remodelling of schools, stadium and others that are prospecting for businesses come into the state every now and then,” he stated.

He also highlighted several investments that State Governor is introducing to the state like the Benin River Port, the Benin Industrial and Enterprise Park projects, the Ossiomo power project amongst others which he explained is supported by the number of stakeholders who frequent the state regularly via flights.
